We're seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our Transport team as a key member of the Operations department in Cape Town.
In this role, you’ll diagnose, repair and maintain company vehicles, generators and mechanical equipment, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and ready for operational use.

The Role:
We're seeking an experienced Mechanic to join our Transport team as a key member of the Operations department in Cape Town.
In this role, you’ll diagnose, repair and maintain company vehicles, generators and mechanical equipment, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and ready for operational use.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain, inspect and service company vehicles, generators and related mechanical equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation.
- Carry out scheduled servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and tire rotations.
- Repair, replace, rebuild or overhaul mechanical components, including engines, gearboxes, brakes, suspension, cooling systems and batteries.
- Test repairs and ensure all vehicles meet required safety and regulatory standards before returning to use.
- Keep company vehicles clean, professional and appropriately branded.
- Maintain accurate inspection, maintenance, vehicle-use and repair records, escalating major issues to the Transport Manager.
- Coordinate with third-party suppliers, workshops and tradespeople where external support is required.
- Keep the workshop, tools, diagnostic equipment and machinery clean, organized, calibrated and safe to use.
- Follow workshop safety procedures, report maintenance or security issues promptly, and support minor facilities maintenance during quieter periods.
- Help maximize use of company-owned vehicles and generators, reduce avoidable sub-hire, and identify damage, missing equipment or inappropriate vehicle use that may require charges.
- Proven hands-on experience servicing, repairing and troubleshooting vehicles, generators or mechanical equipment; experience in Film and TV, transport, plant, fleet or workshop environments would be an advantage.
- Ability to carry out manual, physically demanding work, including standing and moving for long periods, bending, kneeling, reaching, using hand and power tools, and lifting or moving equipment safely in line with manual-handling procedures.
- Strong commitment to health, safety and housekeeping, including the use of appropriate PPE and safe operation of workshop tools and lifting equipment.
- Comfortable working in a busy, practical environment where priorities can change and urgent repairs may require a flexible, hands-on approach.
- Good attention to detail when diagnosing faults, completing repairs and maintaining accurate service records.
- Team-focused approach, with clear communication skills and a professional manner when dealing with colleagues, suppliers and clients.
