Job Scope:
Panavision is the world-class provider of unparalleled optics, proprietary camera, and state-of-the-art solutions that power the creative vision of filmmakers. Driven by a passion for collaborative innovation, Panavision supports filmmakers and creators with the highest standard of quality and service. We are now offering a full-time position for an Electronics Technician within our Toronto Camera Department.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, takes pride in precision and process, and understands that maintaining world-class equipment requires both advanced technical skill but also willingness to maintain standards in regard to cleaning and meticulous preparation. While experience with Panavision equipment is an asset, it is not required- we value strong technical fundamentals, curiosity, and the ability to learn specialized systems.

Key Responsibilities:

This role focuses on ensuring our diverse inventory of leading-edge cameras, monitors, and video engineering equipment is ready to be rented to our clientele.
  • Perform electronic diagnostics and provide repairs and service procedures as per Panavision specifications.
  • Manufacture and repair a wide array of associated cables and components.
  • Perform basic service tests and quality control procedures for digital systems, including monitors and video engineering equipment.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of portable storage batteries of all kinds and inspect equipment for damage or defects.
  • Accurately document all service, maintenance, and repairs in Panavision's proprietary system.
  • Provide technical assistance to clients in-house while they are prepping the camera packages.
  • Other tasks as assigned or required.
Skills/Experience Required:
You are a trouble-shooter/problem solver by nature and are excited by new challenges. Excellent technical and communication skills and a can-do attitude are essential.
  • Post Secondary Diploma or Degree as an Electronics Engineering Technician or Technologist or similar parallel education.
  • Good electronics troubleshooting skills and the ability to competently read electronic and mechanical schematics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in soldering, hardware repair, and electronic diagnostics is essential for this role.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and computer hardware installation.
  • Functional proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve, Red Cine X, and various NLEs is highly valued.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with extensive customer service training.
  • Quick to learn, self-motivated, responsible, and successful with minimal supervision.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
This job operates in a professional office and technical workshop environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This position works standard business hours but may require long hours and some weekend work.

Day in the Life:
Reporting to the Rental Department Manager, you service, prepare, and repair various digital imaging products. On any given day, you may transition from bench work, manufacturing cables or repairing batteries to assisting directly with client needs. As you gain proficiency with our processes and equipment, you will transition to assist in directly supporting our clientele. There will be days focused almost entirely on cleaning, organizing, and preparing equipment rather than active troubleshooting or repair. Candidates who enjoy precision, routine, and pride in immaculate equipment will thrive in this role.
