The Role:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Payroll Manager to join our team!
You will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll function across our Camera and Lighting Divisions, ensuring timely and accurate processing with our payroll system (Sage 50), adhering to all statutory requirements across our locations.
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of PAYE and payroll legislation, strong project management skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement within the payroll department. You will be instrumental in maintaining accurate records, providing financial information, and managing relationships with key external stakeholders.
This is a permanent, full-time and standalone position, reporting to our HR Director.
The role is based 4 days a week on-site (2 days at our Camera Division in Greenford & 2 days at our Lighting Division in Hayes) with 1 day working from home.

What you’ll do:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the company's end-to-end payroll activities, ensuring exceptional accuracy, performance, and quality service delivery, with a particular focus on efficient and accurate processing within Sage 50.
- Oversee the entire employee payroll lifecycle, from onboarding and leavers to pensions, benefits, and all statutory returns to employees, HMRC, and other government department.
- Operate and maintain the company's payroll software/system, Sage 50, leveraging its full capabilities.
- Identify, review, and implement continuous improvements to payroll systems and procedures to optimise performance and service.
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll queries across the Group, fostering a strong understanding of payroll functions.
- Develop and execute robust payroll policies, ensuring alignment with overall Group policies and procedures.
- Extensive expertise and full familiarity with PAYE and all payroll functions.
- Proven proficiency in operating payroll software systems, with strong, hands-on experience with Sage 50 being essential.
- Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, supported by a recognised payroll qualification.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with general IT systems (e.g., word processing, databases).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively manage a diverse workload in a standalone capacity.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with internal stakeholders (HR Director, HR team, Finance) and external contacts at all levels.
- The ability to deal sensitively and appropriately with confidential information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage conflicting demands.
- Proven project management abilities and strong planning, organisational, and administrative acumen.
