The Role:
We are searching for an Asset Controller to join our Business Development team in Cape Town.

In this key role, the successful candidate will oversee Company inventory and make strategic decisions about gear purchases and allocations. You'll be responsible for managing our pool of gear to ensure optimum revenue generation, local and global inter-branch transfers, tracking assets in Company systems, and coordinating repairs, purchases, and stock levels. You will also support rentals scheduling, and lead stock takes and utilisation monitoring.

What you’ll do:
  • Oversee the Company’s global inventory, making strategic decisions on capital expenditure, gear retirement, and replacement to ensure optimal tax and revenue efficiency.
  • Manage all local and international inter-branch transfers, ensuring strict adherence to security, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor asset utilization and lead negotiations for sub-hires, long-term rentals, and split-rental deals to maximize profitability and reduce third-party spending.
  • Support the sales team by providing technical expertise on gear selection, engaging in client meetings, and visiting job sites to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Provide detailed, data-driven reports on market trends, payback periods, and financial accountability to justify equipment investments.
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Rentals teams to determine gear availability, schedule resources, and provide technical mentorship to colleagues.
What you’ll bring:
  • Proven ability to forecast market demand and turn technical gear requirements into financially lucrative business cases.
  • Deep knowledge of industry-standard camera and lighting equipment with a methodical approach to asset tracking and accountability.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing high-value contracts or sub-hire arrangements.
  • Polite, helpful demeanour with the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment while interacting with high-profile clients and crew
  • Flexibility to work overtime or remain on-call during peak production seasons to meet client deadlines.
  • Valid South African driver's license (Code B).
If you possess a passion for technology and excellent customer service, we would love to hear from you!
